LOL WOW I used to work there, I was the Asst. Service Manager there for

a couple years

when Pete Moore first bought it, `80-`82. The building was torn down a

bunch of years ago.

I just called to see if it would be ready today

and he said "Umm, there was a plastic horn contact broken and had to order

the part from GM." .......

Translation: "I broke the plastic horn contact" ...........

(cuz my horn always worked fine LOL)

Betcha I get charged for it. :-)

Does the steering wheel have to come off to R&R the lock cylinder?!?

seems weird to me....

Do you still insert a small rod somewhere around the lock cylinder to

release it like we used to do on older cars?

My `87 car had the same problem, I got the key out the first or

second time it happened, but finally the lock kept it..

After you pull everything out of the way, cover, airbag, little

delicate horn contact parts, etc. (I never did a `96 car, but I own a

`95 so I know what you have) you can then use a wheel puller too

remove the steering wheel in order to gain access to the lock, which

must be changed, you will need a new key too, I think it comes with

one. I did this operation on my `87 car and I broke something off

the delicate horn contacts but was able to get by without replacement.

You wouldn`t want to put the same lock back in, even if you got the

key out of it, it would just screw up again. Difficulty level on this

job would be experienced only, some special tools needed.

Oh, yeah, if the wheel goes back on EXACTLY like it was, go to church

next Sunday.

Title: Project Fatality... continued

Well where did we get to then… Last time we updated this project we were wheeling the Audi out of Chris at Kustom Kolors booth after achieving the matt finish we were looking for! This was the Friday before the Players show where the car was to be debuted. Then it all kind of went wrong for a while!
I had this crazy idea that 20’s would work on the car after selling a set of 19″s the same style that week.. How wrong could i of been. Whilst an awesome wheel we just couldn’t get the car down low enough on these wheels once the tyres were mounted ( A story in itself but lets save that one!)
The wheels (20″ Rs4’s with Yoko S-drive’s.)

IMG_0994

When test fitted before the tyres we were feeling very smug with ourselves and though we had it nailed oh well you cant win them all, It did look nice though at this stage.

IMG_0969

But it wasn’t to be so with a few hours before leaving for the Players show in Essex it was stressful times (For which i apoligise for my grumpyness to everyone). Chris had an Idea…. What about them wheels of Ollies S4… Humm they couldn’t work could they…? At this stage i was stressed and couldn’t even be botherd anymore but after a call to Ollie we pulled one off to give it a try and damm i think we could be out of the shit! Game on for tomorrow we will go to the ball! (I Have to say a HUGE thankyou to Ollie for helping us out!). Getting to the show was stress free with a carfull we arrived at the show to be greated with this!

Title: Women drivers 'more likely to suffer parking stress'
Date: Thu, 24 Sep 2009 08:09:08 +0000
Author: lucyhamshare

Its official, women are hopeless at driving. I know this will anger all those feminists out there, but unfortunately a survey of 4,200 drivers (men and women!) by insurance company elephant.co.uk has proved it. The survey found that female motorists are much more likely to suffer parking stress than men, particularly when someone else is watching them.

I’m afraid I have to agree with this survey. I am hideous at parking – I hardly ever reverse into a space, and if my boyfriend is in the car with me, I usually get him to park the car if it’s a particularly tight spot. And apparently I’m not alone, the survey found that women are twice as likely to ask someone else to park their car for them, and three-quarters admit that backing into a space is at times too tricky even when there is sufficient room. This compares to just 9% of men who admit they are useless at parallel parking and half who admit that reverse parking can be tricky.

Interestingly, earlier this year, the AA revealed that 34 per cent of drivers would fail on parallel parking if forced to retake their driving test.

Fortunately, many car makers, including Ford, Volkswagen and Mercedes, have wizened on to the fact that us girlies are useless at parking and have invented parking assist gadgets to help us out. Ford’s Parking Assist, for example, uses four ultrasonic sensors located in the rear bumper which are activated when the ignition is switched on and the reverse gear is selected. As the car is reversed the sensors detecte any obstacles behind the car and will alert a warning sound when the car gets too close. So if you own a Ford and you find yourself panicking at the thought of having to park your car, pop down to your local Ford dealer to find out more, and let those panic-stricken moments be a thing of the past and let’s beat those boys at parking!
